When the Olympic Winter Games are officially opened on 6 February 2026 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, backaldrin and the Original Kornspitz will once again be right at the heart of the Olympic action. For more than ten years now, the family-owned company from Asten in Upper Austria has been supporting the Austrian Olympic Committee (ÖOC) as a reliable Top Partner at the Olympic Games – continuing a genuine tradition.

At the upcoming Winter Games, athletes and guests at the Austria House can once again look forward to high-quality bread and bakery specialities from backaldrin. The Original Kornspitz once more serves as a crispy ambassador for Austria, representing quality, performance and enjoyment.

Kornspitz Sport Team on the hunt for medals

Sports sponsorship plays a key role at backaldrin. Through the Kornspitz Sport Team, the company has been supporting athletes from a wide range of sports for many years on their path to peak performance. At the Olympic Winter Games 2026, several Kornspitz athletes will be in the spotlight: speed queen Conny Hütter as well as biathletes Anna Gandler and Anna Andexer will be competing for medals in Italy.

In addition, backaldrin has been a partner of the Austrian Ski Federation’s biathlon division since this season. Under the leadership of former Kornspitz Sport Director Christoph Sumann, the team aims to build on past successes. Austria House: where enjoyment meets the Olympic spirit

At the Olympic Winter Games 2026, backaldrin will supply the Austria House as well as the athletes in Cortina d’Ampezzo with a wide range of freshly baked specialities.

More than 20,000 pieces of small baked goods will be produced on site, including the Original Kornspitz, lye rolls, Kaisersemmeln, Urkorn rolls and other classics. The assortment is complemented by five nutritionally conscious bread varieties: rye bread, Vegipan, spelt wholegrain bread, wheat wholegrain bread and the new Alpine Bread.
