CERAMIC BREAD DELICACY

As the object of the month for November, we are proud to present a ceramic piece of bread made by renowned ceramic artist and sculptor Franz Josef Altenburg (1941 – 2021).

The graduate of the Graz School of Applied Arts, great-grandson of Emperor Franz Joseph I, and well-known creator of numerous Gmunden ceramics, created the 20 x 11 cm piece of bread around 1980. This piece represents a rarity in his work, as he was generally rather focused on the design of architectural miniatures (fences, house models and towers) and vessels. The item is on display in the PANEUM until the end of November.
