In order to be well prepared for Lent, the church once recommended fatty and filling foods during Carnival. As doughnuts were not only satisfying and inexpensive but also extremely delicious, they quickly became very popular.

At the PANEUM, the doughnut is also a delight. The object of the month for February is a work of art from the Augarten Porcelain Manufactory: a butter or jam jar in the shape of a deceptively similar-looking doughnut.
