New IFS Version 5 Certificate for backaldrin

Asten, Austria, April 9, 2008 -- backaldrin, the international producer of baking goods, known far and wide as the inventor of the Kornspitz grain roll, has been certified in accordance with the new IFS Version 5 following a comprehensive audit. The company achieved the "highest level", which requires compliance with more than 95 per cent of all pre-defined criteria.

"The IFS Certificate represents official confirmation that we have correctly laid the groundwork in past years, also in terms of food safety. For our customers, we now have proof in writing of what they know anyway, that we operate at the highest possible quality level", says backaldrin owner Peter Augendopler on the occasion of yesterday's official handover of the IFS certification to backaldrin. The International Food Standard (IFS) serves to ensure a unified evaluation of food safety and the quality levels achieved by the manufacturers. Since January 2008, the new Version 5 has been valid, improving the hygienic, packaging and traceability requirements. "Food safety is the top priority for customers and consumers. By being ranked at the highest certification level, we have far surpassed the demands contained in the new IFS Version 5", says Augendopler. In addition to hygienic considerations, an essential aspect is the traceability of the batches. backaldrin ensures complete traceability along the entire value chain, from the raw material suppliers to the customer.
