Bibelbrot®. Sent by Heaven. Bibelbrot® (German for Bible Bread) – made exclusively of ingredients mentioned in the Book of Books
"That’s how it is written – that’s how it is baked" is the joyous message with which backaldrin is making people at iba 2009 sit up and take notice. Bibelbrot® (German for Bible Bread) is the latest creation. The ingredients, all of which are mentioned in the "Book of Books", are just as promising and enticing as the name of the new bread itself. Bibelbrot® is a particularly tasty and luscious wheat bread.
"Take wheat and barley, beans and lentils, millet and spelt; put them in a storage jar and use them to make bread for yourself. You are to eat it …" is written in the Bible (Ezekiel 4, Verse 9). We have taken this biblical call to heart and baked a bread which does justice to the Book of Books. We have taken the original ingredients as mentioned in the Scriptures and put them in a modern form in order to create the Bibelbrot®. Wheat, barley, spelt, millet, bean flour, linseed, honey, sea salt, poppy seed, caraway as well as yeast and water are the 12 ingredients which ensure heavenly pleasure.
The new Bibelbrot® (German for Bible Bread) is a particularly tasty and luscious wheat bread. The attractive and original shape of the bread with its rustic and crispy crust underlines the fact that only ingredients "proven and tested since time immemorial" are used. The sprinkling with poppy seed and some caraway lends an individual visual flair to the innovative bread, and together with honey ensures a fine, round aroma.
Bread as a symbol of life
On the basis of the new Bibelbrot®, backaldrin's President Peter Augendopler also wants to focus attention on the value of bread itself. "Nowhere else is the importance of bread so evident as in the Scriptures", says the convinced owner of backaldrin. "Bread is ever-present in the Bible, and is considered as a symbol of life". Many biblical stories are closely linked to this precious food. One only has to think of the miracle of the loaves. There are also many common expressions used in everyday life which are derived from the Book of Books, for example: "Man does not live by bread alone." Bread is mentioned in more than 330 verses in the Bible.
