House of Bread
The House of Bread in Asten is a meeting place for the baking world. About 7,000 bakers and specialists from close-by and far away come here each year to exchange thoughts, ideas and experiences.Seminars and lectures are held in the backaldrin Forum, a modern auditorium for 112 people, within the context of the "backademie" (Baking Academy). The House of Bread is a modern research, development and communications centre, and at the same time, it houses an historical collection of books on the baking trade. It combines history and progress, high-tech and craftsmanship offering centuries-old knowledge in a modern environment. 4,000 books can be marvelled at, including the second oldest baking book in the world, as well as numerous exhibits focusing on the art of baking bread.
In the House of Bread, you will gain an interesting insight into baking, a trade which is hundreds of years old. But more than anything else, it is a place for originality, creativeness and innovation, where the baking ideas of today and of tomorrow are being developed using state-of-the-art methods.
